Plus: a less crowded Caribbean island that actually welcomes LGBTQ+ travelers

Hey there — happy Wednesday! ☀️

This week, we’re heading to a Caribbean island that actually welcomes LGBTQ+ travelers, unpacking what the hell is going on with WorldPride in D.C., and (as always) dropping fresh travel deals that’ll make the group chat jealous.

Let’s get into it:

  • Spotlight Destination: Curaçao 🏝️

  • Trump tries to come for WorldPride 👀

  • Travel news for Gays on the GO 🗞️

  • Poll: your budgetary boundaries 🗳️

Spotlight Destination: Curaçao 👀

On a lighter note… if you're craving turquoise water and a place that actually welcomes LGBTQ+ travelers, Curaçao might be your island.

While nearby Caribbean destinations often fall short on queer safety and visibility (looking at you, Jamaica), Curaçao stands out. This Dutch Caribbean gem is vibrant, walkable, and proudly inclusive — with gay-friendly hotels, nightlife, and its own Pride celebration (hello, September getaway). Bonus: you’ll hear Papiamentu on the beach and find Dutch pancakes for breakfast.

This sun-soaked island has quietly become one of the Caribbean's most queer-friendly escapes. And while summer is technically low season, that just means better deals and fewer crowds.

🤡 Trump-Controlled Kennedy Center Cancels all D.C. WorldPride Events

WorldPride 2025 Is Still Happening — But Now, It’s a Protest

WorldPride 2025 is expected to bring MILLIONS to D.C. — but thanks to Tr*mp, it’s no longer just a celebration. It’s a full-on act of resistance.

After he seized control of the Kennedy Center earlier this year — firing its leadership, banning drag shows, and scrubbing LGBTQ+ programming — this week, major Pride events were booted from the venue.

The AIDS Memorial Quilt? Gone.

Drag Story Time? Canceled.

The Gay Men’s Chorus? Silenced.

Organizers have scrambled to relocate events, and international sponsors are pulling out — but there’s no backing down. A massive June 8 march from the Lincoln Memorial to the Capitol is still on, and activists are reminding us: Pride has always been a protest.

And we’re starting early: a rally is planned for this Friday outside the Kennedy Center.

Travelers, especially trans and nonbinary visitors, are being warned about new and very real risks at the border. Whether you're marching or witnessing from afar, visibility matters — and resistance takes many forms.

⚖️ Q&A Time:

Last Week’s Results:
We asked: Would you rather splurge on a luxury hotel, or save on a budget stay and spend big on experiences?

  • 17% said Give me the Luxury Stay 💅

  • 83% said Give me the A+ experience 🗺️

Verdict:
Y’all are all about the moments, not the thread count. When it comes to travel, the experience wins by a landslide, honey:

  • “Experiences will always be remembered, a hotel is easily forgotten.”

  • “I’d rather sleep in a tent and eat at the best restaurant in town.”

  • “Luxury is nice, but stories are better.”

This Week’s Question:
Now we’re curious about your budgetary boundaries: How do you feel about budget airlines like Spirit?
